Author Biography

Some could argue that Charles Dickens is one of the most widely known and accomplished authors of all time. Dickens was born in 1812 into a poverty stricken family in Portsea. They frequently moved to where they could find work. Even in hard times Charles had a love of the outdoors and was an avid reader.  Because of his life in poverty, a lot of Dickens’ books discuss the issue and clashes between social classes. In 1829 Dickens became a reporter at Doctor’s Commons Courts and fell in love and eventually got married. He continued to work on his writing and ultimately wrote small novels and stories for magazines and newspapers which became quite popular. He then wrote around 25 books and is most commonly known for “Great Expectations”, “A Tale of Two Cities”, and “A Christmas Carol.” After a long successful career of literature he died in 1870 at the age of 58.
